And that’s a game!
“Can we have a game next week?”
“Is this really the last game?”
These were the questions heard last Saturday as the first season of Rolling Youth Flag Football came to a close. And what a season it was. From unpredictable weather to the occasional hiccup, nothing could stop these incredible young athletes from showing up and showing out every week.
Game 6 was no exception. The final game of the season was another Coach vs Coach battle. Coach Williams’ and Coach Sallie’s passion for the game was evident as they coached their teams like it was the first game of the season. The players were eager to run each play that the coaches called and grabbing flags as if they were free ice cream cones on a hot day.
Coach Sallie’s team scored to first touchdown of the game , Coach Williams’ team answered back with a touchdown. “Seeing the energy from the players for the last game of the season kept me on my toes from the first whistle to the last”, said NFL Flag Official Darian Stitten. Williams held a touchdown lead at the half, but Coach Sallie claimed victory as his team won the final game of the season with a score of 48 to 42.
After the game, player Royal Hall shared, “The games were fun and something different from regular football. It gave me a chance to improve my technique and kept me active over the summer.”
