Selma entrepreneur, community change-maker, and HR business partner Brittney S Houser is proud to announce her candidacy for District 4 School Board Member. A proud graduate of Selma Early College High School, Brittney returns to serve the school system that built her foundation, bringing with her unmatched passion and bold, innovative vision for the future of education.
As a seasoned entrepreneur and founder of Girl Level Up Inc., Brittney has spent years creating impactful programs, building systems from the ground up, and leading with purpose. Her experience as a business owner has taught her to be a visionary thinker, agile problem-solver, and purpose-driven leader—qualities that directly translate to strong and forward-thinking school board leadership.
With over a decade of experience in human resources, strategic planning, and leadership development, Brittney is known for her results-oriented mindset, ethical leadership, and commitment to building collaborative environments. At Girl Level Up Inc., she empowers girls through mentorship, leadership, financial literacy, and emotional wellness, instilling confidence and opening doors to opportunity.
She holds a master’s in human resource management from Troy University, a Juris Master’s in Employment Law from Texas A&M University, and a bachelor’s from the University of Alabama. Guided by her personal and professional motto—Educate. Empower. Expose—Brittney’s leadership reflects a deep belief in developing the whole child, uplifting families, and fostering collaboration across all levels of the education system.
“As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned how to lead with vision, adapt with integrity, and unite people behind a mission,” said Houser. “Our school system needs leadership that is both innovative and grounded in trust. I’m ready to bring that to our board—because our scholars deserve it.”
As the future voice of this district, I will lead with courage, compassion, and clarity,” said Houser. “Leadership may guide the way, but real transformation starts at home. When we uplift parents, stand with our educators, and expose our students to the greatness within and around them—we ignite a future filled with promise, purpose, and power.”
Brittney’s first goal as a candidate is to listen— to identify the strengths we can build on and the gaps we need to bridge. “Before we can build solutions, we have to get honest about the challenges. I want to meet with teachers, parents, students, and staff to hear their experiences firsthand,” she said. “Only then can we move forward together with purpose.”
If elected, Brittney will focus on:
Creating a Culture of Collaboration among educators, parents, students, and the community to ensure every child is supported.
Family Engagement Initiatives that include personal and professional growth opportunities for parents, because student success starts in the home.
Providing Professional Growth Opportunities for teachers and staff through continuous training, leadership development, and support.
Promoting Ethical, Transparent Governance and restoring public trust in decision-making processes.
Prioritizing Parent and Student Engagement through open forums, mentorship programs, and student advisory opportunities.
Expanding Access to Leadership, Academic, and Life Skills Programs that prepare students for success beyond the classroom.
Driving Results with Strategic Planning focuses on data-driven improvement and long-term impact.
Brittney Houser is a proven team builder, problem solver, and community connector. Her entrepreneurial spirit fuels a deep commitment to youth development and educational equity. She believes true change begins with collaboration—and that student success depends on strong partnerships between schools, families, and communities.
“I believe in Selma’s children, our families, and our future,” said Houser. “Together, we can educate minds, empower communities, and expose every student to the tools they need to thrive. With unity, innovation, and action—we can transform Selma’s schools into a model of excellence.”
For Brittney, education is a shared responsibility. She leads by example, values every voice, and is running not just to change policy—but to fulfill a greater purpose.
