Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This weekend, we celebrate all of the fathers, as it is the third Sunday of June. That’s right, Father’s Day.

I am lucky that I have been able to have both of my parents my whole life. I am blessed that they have taught me so much about being a good person and how to work in business.

They taught me about working hard and doing your best. And growing up, my dad had to work multiple jobs just to be able to support all of us. There would be days where we might not see him that much because once he got through with his day job of being a mail carrier, he’d go on to his second job.

That was also on top of being the mayor of our small town, a full-time job in and of itself even though it didn’t pay that kind of salary.

I’ve always known that I have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. If the job took 40 or 60 hours in a week, then you just had to do it. Maybe I took some of that too far over the years, as I can be a workaholic at times.

Obviously, we wouldn’t be here if not for our fathers. And I’m not necessarily in a biological sense. Many men out there are fathers or father figures to others. They may have taken them under their wings and mentored them in their current job.

Others may have mentored them in high school as teachers or coaches. Maybe even some Sunday school teachers are fathers to the students in their classes, especially those students who are in grade school or even college.

So today, take time to tell your dad or someone who has been your dad and tell them thank you if he’s still with you. If they have already passed on, maybe you can just reflect on the impact they had on your life.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad.
