The Selma Area Food Bank is planning for a big day on Wednesday at Selma University.

They will have their event titled “More Than a Health Fair: State and Local Partners Working for You!” on Wednesday, June 11, from 9-11 a.m. at Selma University. All Dallas County residents are invited to attend the special event.

Here’s what will be happening:

• The Selma Area Food Bank will team up with the Heart of Alabama Food Bank to give food boxes while supplies last. No documentation needed to receive food.
• Multiple state and local agencies will also be present to help you connect to a variety of resources and help. There will be representatives with information on applying for Veterans Affairs benefits, nutrition and physical activity, applying for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), mental health awareness and more.
• Professionals will also be onsite for the wellness clinic. They will conduct health screenings for blood pressure, total cholesterol, glucose and body mass index.

The event is sponsored by UAB Live HealthSmart Alabama, Alabama Office of Minority Affairs, Selma University, Alabama Department of Public Health, Department of Veterans Affairs, Alabama Department of Mental Health, Heart of Alabama Food Bank and the Cahaba Center for Mental Health.
