The University of West Alabama held spring commencement exercises on May 8 and 9, with President Todd G. Fritch conferring degrees to nearly 600 students in the graduating class represent some 19 states across the U.S. and abroad.

The following local students were graduates of The University of West Alabama during spring commencement:

• Allyson Clements of Marion – Master of Education in Mathematics
• Myeshia Darden of Selma – Master of Science in Counseling/Psyhcology
• Anna Hewitt of Selma – Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications
• Bridget Horton of Marion – Master of Education in Student Affairs
• Victoria Pettaway of Valley Grande – Master of Education in School Counseling
