A previously deported immigrant from Mexico who was arrested in Dallas County in February was sentenced Wednesday on charges of illegally re-entering the United States.
According to court documents, Adolfo De Dios Greene, 39, was encountered by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office (“DCSO”) on Feb. 12, while executing a search warrant at a business. The suspect, who was identified as a previously deported immigrant, was observed to be working at that location.
Deputies with DCSO determined that Greene did not have lawful status to be in the United States. Homeland Security was notified of his presence in Dallas County. HSI was able to determine that Greene had previously been removed from the United States in 2013.
At sentencing, U.S. District Chief Judge Beaverstock imposed a time-served sentence and a 1-year term of supervised release upon his future release. Greene had been in custody since his arrest on Feb. 12. Upon his release from prison, Greene is to be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings. Greene was ordered to pay $100 in special assessments.
The Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kacey Chappelear prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
