On Saturday night, the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency and its Director Toya Crusoe informed residents of several “flooded” streets that were considered safety hazards after a severe thunderstorm dumped heavy rainfall in Dallas County.
Streets such as Broad Street, Marie Foster Street and Water Avenue including the right southbound lane across from McDonald’s among several other streets were flooded as well.
“Maxey and Water Avenue, all four lanes of Dallas Avenue and Mabry Street were flooded including Lawrence Street and Clark Avenue, Highway 14 east and County Road 306” Crusoe said.
Crusoe advised citizens that when they see flooded areas in the city to not drive through the flooded waters because of the uncertainty of the depths of the water during a flood. She also stated to citizens to be cautious driving at night when it floods, because it could possess elevated danger due to reduced visibility.
“And, we also encourage citizens to remember the slogan, “Turn Around, and Do Not Drown,” Crusoe said.
Crusoe said she just wants citizens to be vigilant of their surroundings during severe weather and to take the precautionary measure seriously about not driving on flooded roads.
