Southside falls in South Regional

The Southside Lady Panthers saw their season come to an end on Monday.
Southside fell to Wicksburg in the opening round 22-0 before falling to Excel 19-3.
The Lady Panthers end their season with a 6-9 record overall.
Southside 3, Excel 19
Southside tried to keep its season going by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
However, it was not enough to keep the Lady Panthers’ season going.
Excel scored two runs in the first inning, five runs in the second inning, five runs in the third inning and seven runs in the fourth inning. Of the runs scored, only half of them were earned runs.
Eighth grader Adrianna Bennett for Southside had all three RBIs for the game. Breanna Bennett singled with one out to start the rally. Cadreanna Moore then singled to put two on with one out.
Senior Nyasija Gipson drew a walk to load the bases. That’s when Adrianna Bennett had a bases-clearing double with two outs. However, Excel got the final out on a groundout to end the game.
Breanna Bennett had two strikeouts in the circle.
Southside 0, Wicksburg 22
Cadreanna Moore was the only base runner for Southside against Wicksburg.
She was hit by a pitch. No other batter was able to get a hit or a walk. Wicksburg also committed no errors. Breanna Bennett took the loss.
The game lasted just three innings.
