The Morgan Academy softball team kept its season going on Thursday afternoon with a dramatic 3-1 win over Chambers Academy in the AISA Class AA loser’s bracket.

The were scheduled to play Edgewood in another elimination game on Friday. The game had not begun as of press time.

After being no-hit in a three-inning game against Fort Dale, the Lady Senators got on the board in the top of the first inning against Chambers. Addison Bond drew a leadoff walk and came home on Lydia Smitherman’s RBI single.

Chambers answered with a run on a ground out to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning.

No team could score again until Morgan struck in the fifth inning. Miles Avery Bond drew a leadoff walk. The Senators cashed in again on that walk with a Leila Moore RBI single with two outs.

Morgan then took advantage of a bases-loaded situation in the top of the seventh inning for an insurance run. Cassidy Peal was hit by a pitch to bring home Brynlee Chappelle.

Addison Bond did the rest by retiring the side in order. She pitched the complete seven-inning game with six strikeouts. She only allowed one run on eight hits and no walks.

Those collecting hits were Addison Bond, Moore, Kenzie Oates, Smitherman and Chappelle.
