Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS), in partnership with the Craig Field Airport & Industrial Authority, is excited to host Aviation Day on May 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Craig Field Industrial Park.
This event will unite students, industry professionals and community leaders to highlight career opportunities in Alabama’s growing aviation and aerospace sectors.
Attendees can look forward to engaging hands-on experiences, aircraft demonstrations and networking opportunities with aviation industry leaders, educational institutions and military representatives. Aviation Day is open to high school and college students, educators, and public members interested in exploring various career pathways in aviation, including pilot training, air traffic control, avionics, and aircraft maintenance.
Retired Air Force Col. Chris Stricklin, a nationally recognized leadership expert, decorated fighter pilot and author, will be the keynote speaker for the event. With an impressive military career featuring more than 100 combat missions and a celebrated tenure with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Stricklin offers insights into leadership, service and the future of aviation.
“Aviation Day is about more than showcasing exciting careers; it’s about inspiring our students and community to aim high and understand what is achievable through education and training,” said Dr. James M. Mitchell, President of WCCS. “We are honored to have Colonel Stricklin join us and share his powerful story with our audience.”
Guests will have the opportunity to tour aircraft and simulators, speak with aviation and aerospace professionals, learn about WCCS’s upcoming aviation training programs and network with industry partners and colleges
This event is organized by Wallace Community College Selma’s Department of Workforce Development and reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to providing innovative career pathways and technical training for Alabama’s workforce.
