Morgan falls in second round of playoffs

The Morgan Academy Senators saw their season come to an end on Tuesday.
Macon-East Montgomery hosted the second round of the playoffs and swept the Senators 9-2 and 11-5 to advance to the state quarterfinals.
Morgan Academy’s season ends with a record of 13-13.
In Game 1, the Senators could only muster four hits at the plate. Clifton Smith had a double while Speedie Pernell, Barron Frazer and Jake Sames had singles.
Wallis Gillmore had the two RBIs for Morgan. He had a sacrifice ground ball to score Pernell in the third inning. He then grounded into a fielders choice to score Smith in the fifth inning.
Macon East scored two in the first inning, four in the second inning and three in the sixth inning.
Frazer allowed nine runs, only five were earned, on five hits and six walks. However, he had 13 strikeouts for his five and one-third innings.
Trevor White came on to get the final two outs.
In game 2, Morgan kept it close through the first five innings. After allowing a run in the top of the first inning, the Senators responded with two in the bottom of the inning. Pernell led off with a home run. Gilmore then stole home with two outs.
Macon regained the lead in the second inning with a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings.
Morgan didn’t give up as Cade Henderson led off the third inning with yet another solo home run, cutting the lead to 5-3.
Macon-East added three insurance runs in the top of the firth inning.
Morgan stranded two runners in the bottom of the sixth before Macon-East put the game away with three more runs in the top of the seventh.
The Senators kept fighting until the last out. Pernell doubled in the bottom of the seventh to score Sams. Pernell then scored on a passed ball. Macon-East recorded the final out on a groundout to second base.
