JROTC cadets get tour of MMI

Southside High School and Selma High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps units visited Marion Military institution Friday, April 18 for a campus visit.
The tour consisted of a campus orientation, the law-enforcement simulator, emergency medical services facility and a Corps of Cadets formation and parade.
Following lunch, the Cadets from Southside High School and Selma High school underwent:
- The Leadership Confidence Course, which is designed to build confidence in oneself and in one’s ability to overcome challenges.
- Elaboration of the course, which is to build confidence, develop leadership skills, overcome fear, and improve mental toughness. All combined to foster teamwork, improve leadership skills, and help cadets, overcome fears and anxieties.
By facing physical and mental obstacles, cadets can develop resilience, mental fortitude and the willingness to push beyond their perceived limitations.
Following the leadership confidence course, the cadets proceeded to the obstacle course, which is designed to train and developed cadets survival skills, physical fitness, stress tolerance, and teamwork.
Instructors from Southside High School are Col. Brook Rollins and Senior Master Sgt. Medina. Instructors from Selma High School were Master Sgt. Jordan and Technical Sgt. Jackson.
