Morgan advances to second round

The Morgan baseball team advanced to the second round of the state playoffs after they defeated Monroe Academy 12-0 and 10-0.
The Senators advanced to face Macon East on Tuesday and Wednesday. Macon East had a first round bye.
In game 1, Morgan pitcher Barron Frazer only allowed one hit and one walk to Monroe Academy while racking up eight strikeouts.
Then Morgan broke a 2-0 open with scoring seven runs in the third inning and three runs in the fourth inning.
Wallis Gillmore, Speedie Pernell and Trevor White all had two hits in the win. Gimore also had a double with four RBIs and two stolen bases. Pernell also had a double with two RBIs and two runs.
White also scored twice with an RBI and a stolen base.
Cade Henderson and Harrison Jones also had doubles while Travis Jones had the other hit. Clifton Smith also scored twice after reaching on two walks.
It was more of the same in Game 2. The Senators racked up six runs in the second inning to build a big lead. Morgan ended the game with a sacrifice ground out by White to score Gillmore.
Thomas Clay Atchison finished with a double, single and RBI while Gillmore added another two hits and two runs scored. Frazer and Harrison Jones also had doubles while Smith added a single. Frazer had three RBIs while Harrison Jones and Cade Henderson both had two RBIs.
