“It’s all about God.”

That’s what Corey Carter describes that he has done with Jon Chapelle, pastor at Restoration Place Church in Selma.

For the past several years, the two have teamed up their ministries to help the community. That has been through multiple ways. The latest was a bike giveaway that occurred on April 5 at the Chanticleer Apartments in Selma.

Through donations from multiple churches and community partners, they were able to give away over 50 bikes to children at the apartment complex. In addition to that, they had face painting, games food and other fun activities.

But even more important, they held a special church service right in the apartment complex’s backyard.

“You know, we have to take the church to them, not expect them to come to church,” Carter said. “We have to meet them right where they are.”

Carter and Chapelle have been known by the “Sons of Thunder.” Last year, they preached a revival called “The Word at the Pentecost” revival.

They came together at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge six years ago during a morning prayer time. They have been connected in ministry ever since.

“My goal is to facilitate and stand with him and meet needs and make sure his vision is realized,” Chapelle said in a STJ story last year.
