Mayor appoints Jackson ambassador during Fulbright exchange in Senegal

Mayor James Perkins Jr. has officially designated Sherry Jackson as a Ceremonial and Promotional Ambassador for the Office of the Mayor as she prepares to travel to the Republic of Senegal to participate in the prestigious Fulbright Teacher Exchanges Award during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Ms. Jackson, a proud resident of Selma, is a dedicated educator at Clark Elementary School within the Selma City Schools system. She is also a distinguished alumna of Selma Early College High School, affiliated with the Selma High School Class of 2010. Her achievements and dedication to education continue to shine a positive light on the Selma community.
“As Sherry represents the United States through the Fulbright program, she will also represent the rich history, culture, and spirit of Selma,” said Perkins. “Her journey is not only a personal and professional milestone but also a symbol of the global reach and impact of our city’s educators.”
Through her participation in the Fulbright Teacher Exchanges, Jackson will engage in meaningful cultural and educational exchange, fostering international collaboration and mutual understanding between communities in the United States and Senegal.
