Under Mitchell’s visionary leadership, WCCS has seen progress in expanding academic and technical programs, improving campus infrastructure and fostering strong community partnerships. His focus on inclusivity, student success and innovation has shaped a vibrant learning environment and helped transform the lives of countless students across the Black Belt region.

“Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated success, and fostered an environment of learning, inclusivity, and innovation,” Mitchell said. “The dedication and passion of our students, faculty and staff have been the driving force behind our achievements.”

Mitchell leaves a legacy of growth, resilience and commitment to access and opportunity in higher education. Though stepping down from his official capacity, he assured the WCCS community that he will strongly support the college.

“While this marks the end of my tenure as President, it is not a farewell,” Mitchell said. “I will always remain a part of the Wallace Community College Selma family.”

A celebration of Mitchell’s tenure and contributions will be held later this year. Details will be shared with the community in the coming weeks.
