Soul Fun Fest to feature many Selmians

The Central Alabama Soul Fun Fest will be Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Montgomery Riverwalk Amphitheater.

The event features a number of Selma and Dallas County connections with the event. It starts with Dr. Bruce E. Taylor, who practice in Selma for a long time before moving to Montgomery. He said this event is a way to give back to the community by having a fun, safe event for all.

“The celebration has something for all ages and we want everyone to come out and have a good time and add to the positive vibe,” Taylor said.

Other local connections includes to the face-painting and games by Moments to Memories owned local artist Ms. Tawana Dixon. She said the event features all kinds of fun things for kids to do. There will also be bounce houses for kids, games and even a mechanical bull to ride. The National Guard will also be bringing other fun activities.

The Dallas County High School Marching Band and Selma High School Marching Band have been invited to perform. The P4G Steppaz featuring Pre’onda Calhoun, Ebony Calhoun and Brandi Davis are also on the entertainment lineup.

Carl “Dr. Feelgood” Moore will emcee the event. Latoyia Marie will also be a beverage vendor.

Patrice Kee Kee, southern soul singer who’s stage name is Ms. Key, will perform during the day.

“We’re just bring a little bit of Selma to the Capital City,” Taylor said. “This is a way to showcase what we have here in Selma and how we can spread that around to other areas of the state.”

Tickets to the event are $28 plus fees for adults and $12 for children plus fees.
