Selma takes JV girls title at first home track meet

The first meet of the newly renovated Ralph “Shug” Jordan Track and Field facility at Memorial Stadium featured Selma winning the junior varsity first place award in the girls division.

Keyshaye Savage, Talayla Wright and Zeria Bell finished in first, second and third place in the 300-meter hurdles while Markia Evans took second place in the 200 meters.  Savage and Wright were also first and second in the 400 meters. Ciara Perkins also had a first place in the shot put and javelin while placing third in the discus. Savage had a third place finish in the long jump. Selma also placed first in the 4×400-meter relay.

Marcus Robinson took first place int he JV boys 800 meters while placing second in the 300-meter hurdles.

On the varsity side, Southside’s Jaylen Rivers was third in the 110-meter hurdles while Aarron Bonner was third in the 200 meters, edging out teammates Jaylen Rivers and Jaderious Wilkins who were fourth and fifth. The Southside 4×100-meter relay took fourth place. Darius Walker also took fourth in the 800 meters.

Overall, Keith was fifth in the boys varsity and eighth in the girls varsity.

Keith’s Jarius Sanders took first place in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 20.41.

Dylan Tabb of Keith took third place in the shot put. On the girls side, ChyNevia Marsh edged teammate Jacqueria Terrell for third place in the 400 meters. The Keith 4×100-meter relay finished fifth.

Overall, Keith finished sixth in both boys and girls varsity.

One of the highlights for Dallas County was Jaidyn Dixon. She finished first in the girls 100 meters with a time of 12.68. The girls 4×100-meter relay team was sixth.

Colton Bohannon finished sixth in the boys 1,600 meters while the boys 4×100-meter relay was also sixth.

Overall, Dallas County finished seventh in both boys and girls team scores.

Center Point High School won both the boys and girls varsity divisions while Demopolis came in second.
