April 12

• Tabernacle of Praise Church will have its Community Health Fair Family Funday on Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at  850 Woodrow Avenue Selma.

• Join the Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Information for the April Walking Tours start at 10 a.m. at the Selma-Dallas County Public Library, 1103 Selma Avenue.

• City of Valley Grande hosts Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at 188 County Road 16.

• A Wellness expo and family fun day is happening Saturday, April, 12 at 10 a.m. at 850 Woodrow Avenue in Selma.

April 15

• The Selma-Dallas County Public Library will hold Lunch at the Library with Kate Wood at noon. Tickets are $15 and please 334-874-1725 or email dana@selmalibrary.org.

• The Selma/Dallas County Alzheimer’s support group will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at the public library.  All caregivers and other interested persons are encouraged to attend.

April 16

• LifeSouth Blood Centers will hold a blood drive at the Walmart Selma from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16.

April 17

• The Selma-Dallas County Public Library will have pictures with the Easter Bunny from 3:30-4 p.m. Meet the Easter Bunny and get a golden egg. Call 334-874-1725 for more information.

• The Heirs Property Webinar Series continues with Proactive Estate Planning from 7-8 p.m. Join us for the Heirs Property Webinar Series in April 2025, hosted virtually by Alabama Extension educators. Each session will cover a different key topic, including Heirs Property Essentials, Legal Strategies & Tax Essentials, Proactive Estate Planning, and Sustainable Land Use. Participants will gain insights on common heirs property challenges, hear from experts, engage in Q&A, and receive valuable resources. • New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at 4033 County Road 31 in Orrville will have its men’s and women’s day celebration at 1:30 p.m. Theme is “the Man and the Woman: Fulfilling Their God-Given Duties.” Scripture reference is Genesis 1:26-27. Guest speaker is the Rev. Alex Perkins Sr. of Hopewell Missionary Baptist in Beloit. The Rev. Rufus King Jr. is pastor.

April 21

• The deadline for U.S. Rep. Terri A. Sewell’s 2025 Congressional Art Competition is April 21. This year’s theme is Picturing a Future for our Historic District. Students should deliver their submission to one of Rep. Sewell’s district offices located in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa. Students can also bring their submissions to school and call (334) 262-1919 for pick up. Artwork may be up to 26” high X 26” wide X 4” deep. For more information, contact Rep. • Green Street Missionary Baptist Church is celebrating their 144th church anniversary on April 27, 2025 at 2 p.m at 1120 Green Street in Selma, Al. Rev. Willie A. Harris is the pastor.. The church will also have a dedication of rooms for Deacon John Rawls, Mrs. Clara Mitchell and Ms. Irma Jackson. The Guest minister is Rev. Dr. Otis D. Culliver, Pastor of the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church of Selma and the president of the Southwest District State Convention.
