A Selma family is asking the community for help with donations to achieve the goal of a “safe home” after a brutal home invasion attack that took place on March 26 within an apartment in Selma.

The brutal attack within the Selma community left a 77-year-old woman severely hurt and fearing for her safety. Now, her grandchild, Kiishun Woods, is pleading to the community through a GoFundMe account for help with the goal in mind of $2,400 to provide a safe place for her grandmother Emma Woods to call home.

“It saddens me to ask for help on behalf of my elderly 77-year old grandmother who’s on a fix SSI monthly income with little to no help,” said Woods. “On March 26, 2025 between the hours of 2:20-2:45AM Wednesday morning an unknown black male entered my grandma apartment unknowingly through the kitchen window proceeding to the living room where my grandmother was at the time, beat her causing her to lose a tooth, and attempting to rape her. He fled the scene by exiting the front door and taking her cellphone along with him.”

Woods continued his statement to the public on-line saying the family is actively asking for help from the community for donations to help relocate her grandmother from Beech Creek Apartments to a safer place.

“This complex has a lack of security, and is deemed “unlivable conditions”. The donations will be used to pay her rent for a year in a new home. “We are trying to get her out ASAP!!! Thanks, in advance.”

Currently, The GoFundMe for Woods has reached 23 percent of the goal with the amount currently raised of $550.

The Selma Police Department is actively seeking help in identifying the suspect and is asking anyone who has any information to contact CrimeStoppers using a 24-hour tip line at 334-215-STOP (7867).
