Selma girls take down Hornets in county game

Selma scored in every inning including a nine-run second inning to defeat Dallas County 19-11 on Thursday.

Dallas County also had an eight-run third inning after Selma build a 14-2 lead to cut the advantage to 14-10. Selma responded with five more runs to end the game.

Karla Hudson led the Saints with a 3-for-3 night with two RBIs. Aniyah Hatcher also got a hit with two RBIs, three runs scored and two walks. Chasity Brown, Aubrey Moore, Jakayla Snow and J Brewer had the other hits for Selma. They also drew 10 walks as a team.

Moore led the team with five stolen bases while Darrica Whitlock, Hatcher, Willis and Ty’Liyah Sheppard had four stolen bases each.

Willis got the win allowing 10 runs on 11 walks and four hits with three strikeouts through two and two-thirds innings. Natasha Holloway had four strikeouts in one and one-third innings of relief allowing one run on one walk.

Kensley Browder led Dallas County with a 2-for-3 afternoon. Zoey Marlow had a double, an RBI and a run scored. Brianna Simpson also had a hit and a run scored. Jaidyn Dixon had five stolen bases while Brittney Robinson had four stolen bases.

Robinson took the looks allowing six runs on two hits and two walks. Dixon also allowed 13 runs, only five were earned, on five hits and eight walks with a strikeout.
