There are only two numbers that have been retired in Morgan Academy baseball history.

The first was Gunnar Henderson.

The second was Caden Tellier.

That’s something that is special to Caden’s father, Jamie.

“Caden just happens to be the first one to his number on the wall,” Jamie said. “Caden really looked up to Gunnar. And Gunnar would always come after the season and in the offseason and came out here to work with these boys before he’d go to spring training. And Caden was like a sponge when it came to soaking up anything Gunnar told him. So, it’s a real honor for Caden to have his jersey hanging next to Gunnar’s in that gym.”

Caden Tellier had his baseball jersey officially retired on Friday in front of a standing-room only crowd at the Morgan Academy baseball field. They even delayed the softball game on the adjacent field for the ceremony.

Jamie said he appreciates all of the support that their family has received since the opening night of the football season, when Caden passed away due to an on-the-field injury against Southern Academy.

“Morgan is a family and they’ve been so to good us,” Jamie said. “To have this many people come out and support us and to be here for all this and love our family the way they have, there are no words. We will be eternally grateful to everyone.”

Since his passing, the legacy of Caden has grown. The mantra “Live Like Caden” has been used at Morgan and all around the state and world. The three letters “LLC” are printed below his number in the outfield as a reminder to do just that.

“God has a reason for everything, and Caden’s making an impact more now than he ever has,” Jamie said. “He is made an impact more than I probably ever will in my lifetime. So God has his reasons, and all we can do is trust him. He’s walking us out through it.”
