On friday, Morgan Academy continued to honor the legacy of Caden Tellier, the school’s starting quarterback who left an impact on the school.

Caden passed away after suffering a football injury during the Senators’ 30-22 win over Southern Academy back in August.

Everyone I have talked to or heard talk about Caden knew he was a unique kid who appeared destined for greatness. He is the kind of teammate and student you want to have. He’s always about the team and whatever he could do to lift his teammates and classmates.

Late in the football season, the school also retired the No. 17 football jersey, the one worn by Caden. On Friday, they retired his baseball jersey in front of a packed crowd.

It is amazing to see how Caden’s story continues to have an impact. It’s a story that has continued to be told across the country and around the world.

It’s been just seven months since that fateful day. The scars left by his passing are still fresh, and some feelings may never be forgotten.

However, it is great to see the young man’s witness impact the lives of people here in Selma and beyond.
