North-South All-Star squads for the upcoming 29th annual AHSAA North-South All-Star Boys’ and Girls’ basketball competition have been selected. The four 15-member teams comprised of 2025 rising seniors were announced by J.T. Lawrence, Director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA) Wednesday.
“This group is collectively one of the most experienced groups we have seen selected in quite some time,” said Lawrence. “Seventeen of the players selected participated in the AHSAA 2025 State Championships at the BJCC earlier this winter with 10 helping their teams win the state championship.”
The AHSADCA, which operates under the auspices of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) will also host all-star games baseball, softball, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, cross country, tennis and golf during the All-Star Week, July 14-19.
Derrick Surles, a junior from Southside, was named to the team. He is listed as a guard at six feet tall.
Among the South girls’ all-star roster players who competed in the 2025 State Basketball Championships are Tariah McGee and Maliyah Meeks of Class 6A state champion Park Crossing; Sydney Johnston of Class 3A state champion Saint James; Jabria Lindsey and Jamonica Chambers, of Final 4 teams Central-Phenix City and Vigor, respectively. The South girls’ squad also feature identical twins Madi-Marie and Mari-Magret Grayson of Alma Bryant – both averaging close to 20 ppg in 2025.
North players participating in the 2025 State Basketball Championships include Campbell Barron of Class 2A state champion Pisgah; Aailiyah Blanchard and Khloe Ford of Class 7A state champion Hoover; Kristen Johnson of Class 6A semifinalist Hazel Green; Blakeley Nixon of Class 7A state runner-up Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa; and two prominent players, Lani Smallwood of Albertville and Makinley Traylor of Ider, who led their teams to regional finals.
North boys’ all-stars who participated in the 2025 AHSAA State Basketball Championships include Milton Jones of Class 4A Fairfield; Jakobi Sharp of Class 6A Gadsden City; and 6-foot-9 Jackson Sheffield of Class 7A state champion Hoover.
South players participating in the 2025 state tourney were 6-7 Jackson Gulley of Class 7A Fairhope; William Joseph Taylor of Class 4A state champion Jackson; Pearce Boone of Class 2A state champion Providence Christian; and Isaiah Thomas of Class 1A state champion R.C.
