NWS rates Plantersville tornado as EF-3

The National Weather Service has rated the Plantersville tornado as an EF-3 on the Enhanded Fujita Scale, according to reports released on Sunday.
The NWS Birmingham damage survey team found EF-3 tornado damage in the Plantersville area of Dallas County, which killed two people. Several others were injured, among the survivors. The storm created considerable damage along County Road 63.
The office is in the process of assessing damage caused by severe storms on Saturday, March 15.
“There are 16 areas scheduled to be surveyed. Preliminary results will be released as each area is assessed, with more detailed information to come, such as start/end time, path length and width. This process will take a few days to complete,” the weather service stated in a public advisory.
The tornado touched down shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday. As of 4 p.m. Sunday, 482 power customers in Dallas County were still without power, according to poweroutage.us. There were 445 Alabama Power customers without power while Central Alabama Electric Cooperative reported 37 outages.
