During the continuation of Friday’s jubilee events, there were several events geared towards resolving issues of the past through modern day change, starting with a warrant and expungement clinic to help those within the community bring forth change to issues that once held them back.
The clinic was held at Ellwood Christian Academy from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., where community members who had traffic and misdemeanor warrants could get them taken care of without the fear of being arrested.
Local entertainment, food, resources to help with childcare was there as well to provide a sense of hope, peace and the evolution of change moving forward.
During the day as well, there was a 50-mile peace rally and walk for those interested to advocate for change just as the foot soldiers did back in 1965 and there was a mock trial dedicated to the growth and progression of law students within the city to engage and understand the ends and out of what takes place during court regarding the law.
The theme for the trial was based upon Project 2025 called The Author of Project 2025 on trial for treason. The trial was not real but just a re-enactment of what does take place with real citizens and real situations to just provide exposure to law students and those aspiring to be an attorney, of what their day to day job would consist of in court.
Special guests such as U.S.Rep. Maxine Waters, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Jr. among many others were apart of the trial including members of the Foot Soldiers Park as well.
