Morgan baseball gets three straight wins

The Morgan Academy Senators rolled off three straight wins last week to improve to 5-1 on the season. They defeated Wilcox Academy 15-1 on Feb. 25, Snook Christian 3-1 on Thursday and Cornerstone Christian 10-0 on Friday.
They will play against Southern Academy Thursday at 6 p.m. and Meadowview Christian at 6 p.m Friday. They will then travel to Bessemer Academy Monday at 6 p.m. and host Bessemer Academy for a double header on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m.
Morgan 15, Wilcox Academy 1
The Senators racked up 11 hits in the win. Cade Henderson had a home run with a double and three RBIs while Jake Sams racked up three hits and four RBIs to lead Morgan.
Aident Fonsetto also two hits and two RBIs while leadoff Speedie Pernell reached base four times on two hits and two walks, scoring all four times. Wallis Gilmore had three RBIs despite having no hits. Rhett Thomas added a double with an RBI.
Fonsetto had two innings of work with two strikeouts, two hits, one walk and one earned run. Thomas added a scoreless inning of work.
Morgan 3, Snook Christian 1
Morgan scored a run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning to build a 3-0 lead. After allowing one run in the sixth inning, the Senators clinched the win with a scoreless seventh inning.
Speedie Pernell had a double with an RBI in the leadoff position. Wallis Gilmore, Trevor White, Harrison Jones, Taylon Sigler and Aiden Fonsetto had the other hits for Morgan. Cade Henderson scored a run and drove in a run. Harrison Jones and Martin Wilkinson scored the other runs.
Thomas got the win with seven strikeouts, allowing one run on four hits with no walks. Clifton Smith struck out the side in the seventh inning despite allowing a hit.
Morgan 10, Cornerstone Christian 0
Wallis Gilmore left the way with a three-hit, three-RBI and three-run performance with a double. Clifton Smith had a pair of doubles while Cade Henderson had a double and single. Jake Sams had two singles and two RBIs.
Henderson had five strikeouts in two innings of work while Trevor White allowed only one hit in three innings.
