Lady Hornets fall to Verbena

Dallas County’s softball team fell to Verbena 16-4 Feb. 26 at home.

The Lady Hornets (0-3) will return to action at Verbena Wednesday, March 5 and will play again at Thomasville on Tuesday, March 11.

Jaidyn Dixon had the only hit with a double and was the only Lady Hornet to reach base every time with two additional walks. She drove in a run and scored a run.

A nine-run second inning doomed the Lady Hornets, as the Lady Red Devils built an 11-0 advantage. Dallas County could only manage two runs in each of the second and fourth innings.

Brittney Robinson also had an RBI in the loss. Karrigan Watts, Hensley Browder and Zoey Marlow also scored runs. Watts and Marlow reached on walks. Browder reached don an error.

Robinson took the loss in four innings of work. She had one strikeout. Jaidyn Dixon also allowed four unearned runs. In all, half of Verbena’s runs were unearned due to seven errors.
