Softball roundup: Morgan Academy off to 5-0 start

The Morgan Academy Lady Senators are off to a hot start, winning their first five games of the season.
During a tournament, the defeated Snook 6-2 and Sparta 17-3 on Friday and Atmore 17-0 and Sparta 17-0 on Saturday.
Morgan 6, Snook 2
Addison Bond, Anna Logan Lee, Lydia Smitherman and Miles Avery Bond all collected two hits for the Lady Senators. Hadley Verhoff, Kenzie Oates and Kaylee Cornell all had hits.
Both of Lee’s hits were doubles while Verhoff, Bond and Bond all had one double each.
E.G. Mims got the win allowing two unearned runs on two hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.
Morgan 17, Sparta 3
The Lady Senators racked up 16 hits in the win.
Collecting two hits each were Kenzie Oates, Anna Logan Lee, Lydia Smitherman, E.G. Mims and Miles Avery Bond. Those getting one hit each included Addison Bond, Leila Moore, Hadley Verhoff, Lila Cornell, Cassidy Peal and Addie.
Bond had four RBIs, a double and a triple while Lee had a pair of doubles. Smitherman also hit a double. Mims also had two RBIs.
Avery Stone got the win allowing three runs on five hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in five innings.
Morgan 17, Atmore 0
The lone runner for Atmore came on a hit by pitch. The Lady Senators only had five hits but walked 12 times.
Kenzie Oates and Addison Bond had one strikeout each in an inning of work.
Kaylee Cornell, E.G. Mims, Hadley Verhoff, Lydia Smitherman and Anna Logan Lee all had hits. Smtiherman and Verhoff had three RBIs each while Lee had two RBIs. McKenzie Britt, Bond, Oates, Miles Avery Bond and Mims all had one RBI each.
Morgan 17, Sparta 0
The Lady Senators pounded out 13 hits in the win while Peal pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts in just three innings.
Peal also helped her cause with a home run with two RBIs.
Anna Logan Lee, E.G. Mims and Kenzie Oates all had two hits each. Oates and Lee had three RBIs.
Brynlee Chappelle also had double.
Dallas County 1, Montevallo 16
The Lady Hornets only had one hit in their loss to the Lady Bulldogs on Feb. 19.
Jaidyn Dixon reached on a walk and scored the only run after stealing two bases. Nakaiya Stubbs drove in Dixon on a sacrifice. Destinee Rivers-Brown also reached base on a hit by pitch.
The Lady Hornets were not able to get a hit in the game.
Brittany Robinson took the loss despite getting four strikeouts.
Dallas County 5, Isabella 21
The Lady Hornets scored their five runs on just four hits. But they were able to get five walks and a reached on three errors.
Karrigan Watts led Dallas County with a 2-for-3 outing with a run scored. Kensley Browder had a double with an RBI while Abby Wheatley had a single and Zoey Marlow also had an RBI.
