Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Robert H. Turner Jr. will deliver a presentation titled “Stop the Violence: Your Life Matters!” on Friday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at R.B. Hudson Junior High School in Selma.
The event comes following the loss of several teenagers in the past year and “has underscored the urgent need for intervention,” according to a press release from the district attorney’s office. The presentation plans to address the dangers of gun violence and gang activity among youth, the legal consequences under Alabama law and the impact these crimes have on families and the community.
“Too many young lives are being lost, and too many families are suffering,” Turner said. “This has to stop. We need to reach our youth before it’s too late, and this event is about opening their eyes to the real consequences of gun violence and helping them choose a better path.”
The public is invited to attend the free event geared to combat youth violence in Selma and Dallas County by educating young people about the choices they make and their long-term impact.
