On Sunday, a Selma man went missing after a family member said he went for an afternoon walk on West Dallas Avenue near Hancock’s Country BBQ and never returned home.

Ulysses Hardy Anderson, 45, is the missing individual. He is  170 pounds and about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and his wife Kimberly Anderson said she was notified by his uncle after some time passed on Sunday, letting her know her husband never returned to his home after he visited his residence earlier that day.

At the time of Ulysses disappearance, Kimberly said she was unaware of the situation and that she did not speak to her husband prior, but said once she heard the news from the family member, she did reach out to him herself to see if she could get in touch with him, but there was no answer.

However, Kimberly told Selma Times Journal she did find out on the same day of her husband’s disappearance that he did speak with a friend over the phone but said the friend that spoke to her husband on Sunday didn’t share anything regarding the conversation that seemed alarming.

“But, I do know that Ulysses suffers from mental health issues, so I don’t know exactly in the moment what he could have been thinking, or what he was concerned with, but he does have some mental issues that we are working through, so the main thing is just trying to make sure we’re able to get him back home safely so that he can get treatment.”

Kimberly also said that she is in contact with detectives from the Selma Police Department to find out if there was any surveillance that could have possibly identified her husband’s whereabouts, but she said at this time, there is no present information.

“It’s definitely challenging,” Kimberly said. “It’s been hard to sleep, and I’ve been constantly trying to just put posts of him out there because I’m hoping that simply maybe he is with someone we just don’t know, but I don’t want to think the worse. It’s just been challenging to just get through these past few days knowing his phone is going straight to voicemail to where we can’t reach him and it’s been really challenging without knowing where he is and that he’s safe. “

Kimberly said her husband was a former member of the Selma and Demopolis fire departments. She added he was a kind person who would help any and every one who needed help and wanted help.

“He was always trying to figure out what he could do to help someone and several people have kind of commented about that, saying they remember him and remembered how much he helped people,” Kimberly said. “So, I just mainly want to say, if anybody has seen anything, I mean, it could be a small detail. I’m just asking that they share it with me or anyone in the Hardy or Anderson family, so that we know more information about how we can possibly find him and locate where he may be.”

The family is asking anyone with information on Ulysses’s disappearance to call 334-641-0245.
