Selma Lady Saints see season come to end

MONTGOMERY — A great season for the Selma Lady Saints came to an end Thursday at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome, as they fell to Briarwood Christian 44-28.

The Lady Saints end their season with a record of 20-4.

The first half couldn’t have been much worse for the Lady Saints. They went 1-for-19 from the field, and fell behind 23-4 at halftime.

The Lady Saints finally got in rhythm in the third quarter on offense. They outscored Briarwood Christian 13-9 in the third quarter, but Selma still trailed 34-16. Nicole Holloway ed the outburst with six points in the quarter.

The Lady Saints continued to fight down the stretch, but they couldn’t get any closer than 15 points in the fourth quarter.

Selma was led by Holloway with seven points and four rebounds. Rod’Neshia Parker and Jy’Kierra Oliver had six points each followed by McKenzie Carter with five and Safiya White with four. Oliver also had eight rebounds and three blocks.

Briarwood Christian was led by Emma Kerley with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
