SCS board approves David Scott as superintendent

The Selma City Schools District Board of Education selected Dr. David Scott as the new school superintendent.

The district announced the hire on social media Tuesday night after the school board meeting.

Scott, who has been based in Tuscaloosa, is serving in his most recent role as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Tuscaloosa County Schools. He has also served as the Director of Professional Learning for the same district including having the experience as an Adjunct Instructor at Shelton State Community College and Jacksonville State University.

The school board announced that 30 candidates applied for the job. Board President Johnny Moss said the board’s next step is to offer Scott the job and work out the details of a contract.
