Selma senior Tyrone “TJ” Sheppard had a big season for Selma High School in 2024.
His efforts have paid off, as he received an invitation to the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, Monday night.
Sheppard, a 6-2, 200-pound senior defensive back, is listed as No, 24 on the South/Gray team’s roster. He said he primary plays at the cornerback position.
The game will be played Monday at noon CST at the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
Sheppard said he is honored to get the opportunity to showcase his talents in front of college coaches.
“It’s a big opportunity for me to get to compete and be around that kind of atmosphere,” Sheppard said. “All I want to do is to be able to play football. So, when I got the invitation to come down here, I was excited to get the chance to play football and hopefully get noticed by college coaches.”
At this point, Sheppard already has offers from Tuskegee and Tennessee Valley. He is hopeful that more offers will come after he gets a chance to showcase his abilities at the all-star game.
“It’s just a blessing to get this chance,” Sheppard said.
