The Selma-Dallas County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will observe the 59th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Selma University.
The program’s theme is “The Power of the Ballot; When We Vote, We Win!”
“We are delighted and honored to have with us as this year’s speaker, Mr. Richard Harwood,” said the Rev. Lawerence Wofford, Selma-Dallas Branch NAACP president. “Mr. Harwood is America’s leading advocate for promoting civic faith to rebuild communities.”
The banquet will also have live entertainment, dinner, and a presentation of awards to community members.
