Selma native returns to open South Co

South Co Electric held its official grand opening and ribbon ceremony on May 31 at its headquarters.
Owner Diego Garcia was joined by Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, Dallas County Commissioner Vivian Rogers, Selma City Councilwomen Lesia James, Jannie Thomas, Selma-Dallas County Economic Development Authority executive director Wayne Vardaman and other business leaders.
Garcia, a Selma native, said he’s glad to start a business in his hometown.
“It’s a great opportunity for Selma and myself,” Garcia said. “I graduated from high school in Selma, later moved to Birmingham and Baldwin County. I’m glad to come back to Selma.’’
Nunn called South Co Electric a blessing for both Selma and Dallas County, praying for its success,
South Co Electric is in James’ district of Ward 4. James is pleased a new business opened in her Ward.
“I’m glad to see a new door open in my Ward,” James said. “I used to cringe when I always drove by and saw the doors closed.”
A delectable spread of wings, sandwiches and assorted fruit were served at the event.
