Cotton State Barns wins 10th annual Rockin’ Rib-off

The Blackbelt Benefit Groups Rockin’ Rib-off last weekend was a success as 600 people attended to enjoy games, live music, and all-you-can-eat ribs.

One of the main events of the Rib-off. Judges and audience judged teams to determine the winner of the Rib-off and the grand prize of $1,200.

Five judges, including Selma City Council President Billy Young, Bob “Uncle Buck” O’Connor, Rep. Prince Chestnut, Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, and Chef Emily Hancock.

The winner of the Rib-off was Cotton State Barns. The team consisted of Boo Boo Farley, Bubba Blackmon, Dusty Burge, and Patrick Carswell. The runner-up was Full Grown BBQ consisting of Matthew Smyly, Jennifer Smyly, Brad Oliver, and Kirsten Oliver.

The Second runner-up was KFC Selma with Mark Woodson, KC Nelson, Barbie Harrison, and Jason Abrams.

The people also named a People’s Choice Award and they voted on the team of Austin Rouse, John Taccone, CJ Christian, and Willie Calhoun Jr. BBG President Josh Wilkerson was happy to have all these teams compete for the cause of helping with the recovery of Selma from the January 12 tornado.
