Since Stephen Clements stepped foot into the Morgan Academy Baseball Program he has made an impact. He made Morgan Academy a winning culture and was named the Selma Times-Journal Coach of the Year four years in a row.

As Clements departs Morgan Academy, he leaves as the Coach of the Year for a fifth straight year. He is the first coach to earn Selma TimesJournal Coach of the Year every year during his coaching career at a school. Despite not making the playoffs this year Clements took his team that battled injury all year and adversity all the way to the final game of the season. Every game no matter who was unable to play Clements motivated his team to get on the field and play their hardest. In a game to an Ft. Dale vs Monroe series to decide Morgans’s fate in a season where not many gave the Senators a chance for a postseason run. Clements’s son TB Clements said that his dad deserved this Coach of the Year Award more than the other four he already has won.

“Having my dad on the field with me has been such a blessing,” TB Clements said. “He’s an amazing coach and he pours everything he has into the team. Well deserved.”

Clements is leaving Morgan Academy to work at Demopolis but says he is honored to have won the Coach of the Year award and to have had the opportunity to have the team he had this year.

“I am honored to be recognized for this award. This just means I have great players and was blessed to be a part of this team,” Clements said. “Jesus has blessed me more than I can ever thank him for and I am grateful for the position he has put me in. When you have great players all you have to do is not mess it up.”
