The Safe Haven Center will  Commemorate the Slained from gun violence by releasing balloons in front of Selma City  Hall on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The ceremony will be held on April 4, the 55th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination.

King was assassinated by James Earl Ray at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis on April 4, 1968.

Rev. Michael Bowen Sr. of the Safe Haven Center said families of gun violence are invited to attend the event.
