Selma Police investigating two homicides over the weekend

Two Selma men were killed in separate homicides over the weekend, according to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford.

Georgio Howell, 21, was killed on Friday night at the 2000 block of Second Avenue around 10 p.m. Gerald Johnson Jr., 19, was killed on Sunday night in the 1800 block of Alabama Hwy 14 East.

Fulford describes what happened in each death.

The Selma Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division started investigating a Homicide on March 17,” Fulford said, describing the murder of Howell.  “The victim was pronounced deceased after being transported to the local hospital.”

Fulford added that SPD Detectives are currently unable to determine a motive in the murder.

Fulford said the second homicide occurred Sunday around 3:20 a.m.

“The Selma Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division started investigating another Homicide,” Fulford said of Johnson, Jr.’s murder. “The victim was pronounced deceased after being transported to the local hospital. Detectives are unable to determine a motive at this time.”
