Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn was the guest speaker at the Selma Rotary Club on Monday.

Nunn delivered the state of Dallas County address, discussing the county’s current status.

Nunn discussed the Dallas County budget of $33.5 million, including $15 million in General Fund and $10 million allocated for the engineering/road department. “Dallas County is doing good, we don’t go out there and spend money, we try to save as much money as we can,” Nunn said. “We make our dollars stretch.”

Nunn said that County Road 209, County Road 77, County Road 219, County Road 28, County 347 are among the roads currently being worked on.

Nunn credited County Administrator Barbara Harrell for keeping Dallas County financial books in order.

Redistricting among the four districts in Dallas County was another subject Nunn talked about. Since the last Census, Nunn said that the population in Dallas County dropped from 43,000 to 38,000.

A redistricing hearing will held on Monday, March 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the Dallas County Courthouse.

Nunn added that the computer software in the offices of the Tax Assessor, Tax Collector and License Commissioner have been updated.

“The software is excellent and it will better serve the customers,” Nunn said. 

Among the jobs Nunn said are vacant include the Dallas County Engineer and assistant Engineer positions.
