One of the nation’s top building materials manufacturing companies donated to  Church Street United Methodist Church last week.

LP Building Solutions, also known as Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, donated from its Thomasville facility known as LP Clarke County. The donation included 14 units of OSB sheathing (OSB stands for oriented strand board). Fourteen units equates to nearly 1,000 boards, valued at almost $6,300. LP covered the product and transportation costs.

Church Street United Methodist Church received the donation for distribution for anyone who needs it to cover broken windows, doors or holes in floors or walls.

“Building materials are in great demand, and a truckload of OSB will save our volunteers and home owners a great amount of money,” said Randy Lovelady, a local contractor volunteering in the cleanup and restoration of Selma. “We are very grateful for so much help.”

The donation is part of LP’s Disaster Relief Program, activated any time a natural or man-made disaster within 60 miles of an LP location. Some of LP Building Solutions employees had tornado damage on their properties.

“On behalf of our 238 employees who live and work nearby at LP’s Thomasville mill, it was important to us to support tornado relief efforts in Selma,” LP Regional OSB Manufacturing Manager Kevin Carpenter said. “ In times of need, LP will always lend a helping hand to our neighbors. This is part of our mission to build a better world, which starts right here in our hometowns.”
