Selma High School turned to a former Dallas County resident for its next head track coach.

Jeffrey Walker will be the new track coach at Selma High. Walker spent several years as the track coach at Ellwood Christian Academy, as two of his children became track standouts under his coaching.

Selma High Athletic Director Wil Morgan perfectly summed up Walker’s attributes.

“Coach Walker brings a winning attitude to the track program,” Morgan said. “Which starts with being disciplined, having great character, having a grinding mentality, working hard mentality, and knowing how to get the best out of his athletes on and off the track.”

Walker began his track career in Selma and glad to return home.

“It’s an honor just to be back to where my roots started and to be able to give back to the community and to help the young people where they are successful,” Walker said. “ It’s one of those things where I can’t wait to get started. I’ve been wanting this opportunity for years.

We’re glad that Selma brought Walker home and we look forward to seeing what he does with the Saints’ track program.
