The United Way of Selma and Dallas County Executive Director Jeff Cothran has always been a model for charitable donations in the area.

Cothran presented a $30,000 check to Thomas Dallas County Family Resource Center Executive Director Thomas Frazier for emergency family assistance during the tornado recovery on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Cothran was on the receiving end of a $100,000 check presented to United Way of Selma and Dallas County by Winn Dixie.

We’ve always appreciated the hard work and dedication Cothran and the United Way have provided for Selma and Dallas County residents.

We admire the way Cothran has gone about his business, especially after the tornado damaged the United Way building. Working from a temporary location, the United Way has supplied the shelter with N95 masks, and latex gloves for the medical staff.

“We are blessed to be able to still serve our community, our agency partners have been doing great work in Selma,” Cothran said. “The process for recovery will be long and I am sure that our community will recover.”

With people like Jeff Cothran leading an organization, Selma and Dallas County is in good hands.
