The Valley Grande City Council received a clean audit from the Jackson-Thornton accounting firm.

Mayor Wayne Labbe, council members Sara Day, Kay Davidson, Robbie Rose, Jane Harris and Treasurer/Clerk Kim Harris were all present at the meeting. Councilman Bruce Hughes was absent.

Chris Neuenschwander and Katie Vega Schmidt of Jackson-Thornton appeared at the Valley Grand City Council meeting on Monday night.

Neuenschwander is impressed with Valley Grande’s financial portfolio for its yearly audut. The audit ended Sept. 30 when the fiscal year concluded.

Valley Grande has a true equity of $4 million and with revenue of $1.3 million.

“We issue a clean opinion,”  Neuenschwander said. We asked for a lot of invoices, bank statements and how payments are made. We make sure everything is talking the same way. The city lives within its means. The liability and assets are in good shape.”

Neuenschwander said the city’s only debt is the pension liability, which stands at $75,000.

Labbe said the sales tax, which accounts for $745,000 of the budget, helps the city tremendously.

The city council and the Jackson-Thornton firm both credited Kim Harris for her hard work in getting the books ready for the annual audit.
