Board president and the event’s founder, George Evans,  gave a special thank you to those who volunteered for the Golf Classic in October.

The former Selma Mayor said it was a huge success and that he’s grateful for everyone’s help and support.

In the meeting, the board decided to have a Fun Day in 2023. A date, time, and location will be decided at a later date.

The board discussed some of the strengths and weaknesses from the last year in the meeting. At the end of the meeting, Evans handed out Thank You Certificates to the volunteers as a token of appreciation to the board. The board also voted that the offices would be held by the same members for 2023.

After the board meeting, Evans met with the volunteers from the Evans Golf Classic to discuss their views on the strengths and weaknesses of the past year.

After discussion, they were also given thank-you certificates for their participation in the events of the past year.

“ I think that we had a good year,” Evans said. “ There is always room for improvement. I am proud and pleased with the turnout we had for the golf tournament and the contributions we had. We know that there are those who had not had an opportunity to contribute. It’s not too late. They can still send it to the Evans Special Funds Program at P.O. Box 909 Selma, Alabama and we will give them credit for it.”

This is the program’s 12th year and it has turned into a well-oiled machine.

“I feel like over the last 12 years that have really perfected the process,” Selma City Schools Special Education Director Courtney Utsey said. “ There is not much else that they can improve on because they have been doing it for so long.”
