The city of Selma was chosen as one of the 33 cities to take part in the Levitt AMP Music Series next year.

The Black Belt Community Foundation was awarded $90,000 a year matching grants.

Blackbelt Benefit Group President Josh Wilkerson said BBG is grateful to have had the opportunity to use our experience to support BBCF in the Levitt AMP Grant application process.

“We are honored to have had the opportunity to share our organization’s (Blackbelt Benefit Group) vision as well as our past experience, particularly with the Levitt amp grant program, in support of Black Belt Community Foundation’s (BBCF) Levitt Amp grant application,” Wilkerson said.

Wilkerson also said that it’s a great chance for the Queen City. Selma is a new grantee in the event.

“We are excited about this amazing opportunity for not only the City of Selma but also the surrounding Blackbelt,” Wilkerson said. “This is an incredible opportunity to transform what was once an underutilized space into a thriving community destination through the power of free, live music.”

Other cities chosen are: Batesville, Arkansas, Baton Rouge, Barea, Kentucky, Carson City, Nevada, Clinton, Oklahoma, Colusa, California, Cumberland, Maryland, Earlam, Iowa, Flint. Michigan, Fort Pierce, Florida, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Gallup, New Mexico, Galva, Illinois, Green Bay, Hana, Hawaii, Harrisonburg, Virginia, Littleton, North Carolina, Middlesboro, Kentucky, Ocala, Florida, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, Soldotna, Alaska, Springfield, Illinois, St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Trenton, New Jersey, Utica, New York, Valdosta, Georgia, Waco, Texas, Whitesburg, Kentucky, Wilmington, Delaware and Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

Lineups for the Levitt AMP Music series will be announced sometime next year.

The Levitt Foundation said on its website that the organization empowers communities across the nation to transform neglected communities.
