Travis Gupton named Times-Journal News Editor

Travis Gupton,28, has been named the news editor of The Selma Times-Journal, selmatimesjournal.com and their affiliated publications.

Gupton is a native of Pleasant View, Tennessee right outside Nashville. He graduated high school from South Haven Christian School in Springfield, Tennessee in 2016 and graduated college from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in 2020.

Before coming to the Times-Journal, he worked for Wyotoday Media for a year in Riverton Wyoming as the Sports Director.

In his time at Wyotoday Media Gupton was on the radio calling play by play for high school sports in the area. He also worked for The Ranger newspaper in Riverton writing mostly sports and features

Coming back to the south is something that Gupton thought he would not have the opportunity to do again and he says he is excited to be back home and be a part of the team.

“Being back near my family and a lot of my friends is an absolute thrill,” Gupton said. “I am excited to be a part of the community and be a part of the team here at the Times-Journal.”

Selma Times-Journal Managing Editor James Jones said Gupton will be a welcome addition to the Times-Journal.

“Travis is an experienced journalist and I look forward to workng with him,” Jones said.

Gupton is going to be married to his fiancé Christine Kasmar this month in Selma.
