Selma safety/wide receiver Dakaari Nelson continued filming the highlight reel of his senior year on Thursday.

The Penn State verbal commitment scored two fourth quarter touchdowns as Selma beat Marbury 30-14 at Memorial Stadium.

The Saints (5-2, 3-1 Region 3, Class 5A) won their fourth straight and control their 5A state playoff destiny.

Nelson shifted most of the credit to his teammates.

“I credit the offensive line, they worked hard all week in practice,” Nelson said.

Nelson scored on runs of 55- and 15 yards in the fourth quarter as the Saints turned a 16-14 lead into a comfortable 16-point cushion, cruising to victory.

Selma head coach Willie Gandy said that the Saints accomplished their mission against Marbury. “We need to finish and run the ball,” Gandy said. “We can be really special and make it complicated for teams down the road.”

The Saints took a 8-0 first quarter lead on Omari Smith’s 10-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Marcus Walton added the two-point conversion.

Selma extended its lead to 16-0 at halftime as Walton scored from 1 yard out and added a two-point conversion run.

Marbury scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, getting within 16-14.

Dawson Smith hit Ethan Edwards on a 10-yard TD pass. Edwards caught a two-point conversion pass from James Fowler.

The Bulldogs got within 16-14 on Cody Whitford’s 10-yard fumble return for a TD. The game-tying two-point conversion failed.

From there Selma delivered the knockout punch, behind Nelson’s two fourth quarter touchdowns and two-point conversion run to clinch the victory.
