An update on the Park Security Gate was the biggest subject in the Valley Grande City Council meeting on Monday night.

The entire council was present: Mayor Wayne Labbe, council members Sara Day, Kay Davidson, Jane Harris, Bruce Hughes, Robbie Rose and Clerk/Treasurer Kim Harris.

In the only old business item on the agenda, Hughes gave an update of the Park Security Gate. Hughes said he met with two men, including one from Columbus Fence last week. Hughes said the two men looked at opening and closing the gate in addition to fixing the cameras. Hughes added that he will get an estimate for the repairs when the council meets again next month.

In other council news, Day said she received a letter from Pyro Productions about working next year’s Fourth of July event for the second straight year.  Day said the letter was to reserve a spot and that the prices wouldn’t increase. Day said the holiday spot was locked in by October last year.

The council unanimously approved for Day to reserve a spot for the event on July 3, 2023. The Fourth of July falls on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

Labbe and Day both said they’ve heard great things about the Fireworks show.

The next Valley Grande City Council meeting will be held on Monday, August 1 at 6 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall.
